Default Droping the steering column.

In order to do a body off resto the steering column has to be disconnected and pushed back. I've removed the two nuts and bolts from the steering shaft (one larger than the other), now to remove what ever bolts are needs on the interior.

Anyone know the exact location and how many nuts/bolts on the interior to disconnect the tilt telescoping steering in order for body removal on the 75' coupe?

Hi m,
There are 2 large bolts for the steering column directly below the driver's side dash pad's center.
There are also 2 bolts on the oval plate that is part of the steering column. The plate is tight against the interior side of the firewall.

Thanks for the information Alan, I was able to disconnect today, just as you described.

By the way, the rubber waffer type material in the steering shaft just before the steering box, where do you get the material for that? Is it something you can make up, since mine is a bit worn?

Hi m,
If you're referring to the reinforced rubber part of the joint as jlr mentions you'll find that many of the larger vendors sell both a 'replacement' and 'reproduction' rebuild kit for that part of the joint at 2 different prices.

I'd imagine this is the reproduction from Zip for around $13.00. I was actually looking for just the round rubber part, but I know what I'm looking for now.
