I have recently changed my 82 crossfire to carburetor. Now the transmission does not shift correctly. Is there a solution to my problem? Has anyone else had this same problem?
The '82 (and up) ECM systems integrate all of the drivetrain systems. If you alter one [or more], it affects the others. You will just have to become familiar with the details of how that system works and how to defeat/manage the ECM programming.
Not sure how many on this Forum have the CrossFire system and chose to convert it to carbs. If they were successful and respond to this thread, they may have some answers for you.
Adjusting the TV cable is the most important thing when setting the 700R4 up. You would rather have it too tight (late/delayed) up shifts than to loose.
The lock up function can be adjusted by buying a lock up kit that works off vacuum.
Some say the trans will burn up without the lock up connected but I know many who never had a problem as long as you use a nice HD trans cooler.
