Hi I have a 1970 Lt1 Right headlight assy. has a leak I pulled hose off both sides of canister one at a time and the leak stops. Also no leak when headlight are on or up , only leaks when down. Any advice. Thank you for any help. Tony B.
Hi ls5,
I believe the way to test the canister takes 2 steps.
First hook the vacuum gauge to GREEN hose side of the actuator, (rod/clevis side), and block the other nipple. It should hold vacuum. If it doesn't the diaphragm in the canister is leaking. (new canister needed)
Then hook the gauge to the RED hose side and block the other nipple. It should hold pressure. If it doesn't hold vacuum the seal on the clevis rod is leaking and needs to be replaced.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
