Default Putting dash back together

Have been trying to put the driver's dash back in and have a small problem: THE D**N THING WON'T FIT!!!!!!!!!!! I took the steering column (and backing plate) out (needed to replace the rag joint anyway) so I have enuf room to work under the dash. The speedometer shaft (not quite sure of terminology) and the trip reset cable hit the two braces. Has anyone got a picture of how it is supposed to look back there? Either a picture picture or a good word picture would be greatly appreciated. BTW, it's a '74 4sp convertible, and I do have an AIM but cannot find anything pertinent Hope ya'll have a wonnerful week, Bill

Not sure but the cable goes either over/under the bracket. I have a 72 convertible and had this problem.
