Hi Team, yet another question on vacuum, My Efe Actuator (77) hose has no vacuum the exhaust butterfly stays in the open position I think?
The car starts and warms up ok but would like the Efe to work
What do you guys think? At this stage I would like to keep it stock but that might change
cheers Dave

trace the vacuum hose to a TVS, it usually screwed in the intake manifold or thermostat housing. its probably manlfunctioning, it has 2 hoses, one should have vacuum from the carb. the other port to the efe act. should have vacuum when cold. the plastic body of the tvs is color coded. vendors on this forum sell them as do some auto parts stores still have them. here is a little info. fyi.
"The vacuum servo EFE system uses a valve between the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe, operated by vacuum and controlled by either a thermal vacuum valve or electric solenoid. The vacuum type EFE should be checked for proper operation at every tune-up. The valve causes hot exhaust gas to enter the intake manifold heat riser passages, heating the incoming fuel mixture."
This helps evaporate fuel (allowing the choke to close faster and thus reducing emissions) when the engine is cold. It also aids cold driveability.
Thanks for the info, I checked the hoses and found the EFE hose was connected to where the EGR hose should be but still no vacuum!
Looks like I might need a new TVS switch
Funny thing is the car starts up good and idles well when warm?
cheers Dave
