Default C5 Wheels

Have a chance to come by some C5 wheels at an excellent price. Front 17X8.5 and rear 18X9.5. I know the bolt pattern works but do they fit without modifications? I'm sure there are some threads and pictures here but I can't find them. My 15" tires are about gone and I'd like to move on to at least 17". Any advice or links to threads would be greatly appreciated.

All you have to do is look at some C3 wheels and some C5 wheels side-by-side to see that the offset is way different. Spacers are needed. Pretty thick ones. They make 'em, though.

You need to correct the front 17x8.5 backspace to 4.25" and the rear 18x9.5 needs to be corrected to 5". There are several cars on the C3 forum using C4, C5, and C6 wheels. Adapters are used to correct the backspace. They bolt on the hub and the late model wheel bolts on the adapter. Do a search using "adapters" or "adaptors". You will find lots of threads on this.

In my first post I said spacers, but what I really meant was adapters. Stay away from spacers that thick, they're dangerous. Adapters are OK, though, because of the way they are designed.
