Quick Fuel Nightmare

The only time I've ever experienced symptoms like you describe, it was on an old Holley 1850, and it was because I had forgotten to tighten down the power valve while rebuilding it. Acted just like a blown power valve, only worse. I would suggest double checking the power valve to make sure it is not defective.
The machining on the metering block in question does look pretty awful, but I think the normal gasket would seal up against it.
It's a very strange problem, and I wish you luck with it.

The leakage issue is the same on both the primary and secondary sides (no power valve on the secondary side) so that leaves the whole power valve conversation out of the equation.
I've done the straight edge thing and with the naked eye, there is nothing conclusive I can determine. The finish of the surface is very rough (like belt sander rough) and that is what I suspect is preventing the gaskets from sealing. Even RTV on both sides of the gasket won't hold a vacuum.
Looks like I need to find a shop that is willing to crack open up a carb for me so I can see first hand what's what.
Thanks!

Its interesting that the sealant didn't do the trick,
Its also odd that both primary and secondary sides are doing the same thing.
I don't have a QF carb to compare but am interested in what you find.
Does the QF carb have something like the idle-eze of the demon carbs, that will bleed air into the carb?
have you performed your vacuum test on the Holley?

Until I have Quick Fuel look at the carb, I do not want to do any modifications as that will void any assistance they may provide.
This carb does not have an 'idle-eze' type feature.
Yes, I have performed the same test on several Holleys and they all passed (they all held vacuum).
I'll let you know how this all turns out.
