Default QJet leak testing

So when I got back my qjet from Sean Murphy Induction, I noticed that the bottom plugs were just coated with epoxy and were not tapped with a screwed-in plug. My Cliff Ruggles book suggests that's the proper method.

Now I can see why epoxy alone is worthless, and with less than 1,000 miles on her since the carb rebuild.

So as I've had a hard start problem, I'm replacing my filter and reintroducing the back stop to the filter:

and also replacing my fuel pump with a different one.

I also wanted to make sure my carb wasn't leaking. So I took it apart and filled the bowl up with gas over night to see if it leaked:

Came out the next day and couldn't see any drops by the plugs, gas was just gone from evaporation. However, I was wondering if when the carb heats up, that any leaks in the plugs might get bigger because of the expansion from the heat.

Is that silly? I didn't see any leaks cold, so I'll probably just button the carb back up.

I think you're fine. Another test you can do is to put some soapy water in the float bowl and spray the bottom of the float bowl (around the plugs) with compressed air.

Looks good to me.
