So many options!! Big blocks like air. Find a pair of big valve heads- there are lots of them out there. I'd bet that by the time you modded your heads with bigger valves and had the ports done you'd have paid for better ones up front. My choice is aluminum, but not a thing wrong with iron either. Summit and Jegs both have BBC top end kits. Hydraulic roller cam and you're off and running.

found a local shop to cut in new seats bigger valves and clean up the bowl area for a fair price. my question is I want to run a roller cam with .600 or more lift should I get longer valves than stock ? keep in mind I have zero into this motor right now so spending on the valve train to wake it up is no big deal! something like this is what iam thinking.LUNATI PART #40110732

A solid roller? I'd talk to Chris Straub. You'll need to make sure you get lifters that will live on the street too.
From some of the reading I've been doing, the 496 engines seem to like a 108* centerline. It may be the 454 likes a little wider.
Make sure you match the springs to the cam.
