I have a fairly new clutch (2k miles), and recently after a long ride and when the temps are up, the clutch chatters when being engaed. The clutch is fine when I first go out, but develops a chatter after things get hot. Any ideas?
i had a ram clutch once that did that but it was pretty constant. what brand is yours? the only way i could get mine to engage smoothly was to ride the clutch with the engine RPMs up over 2000. mine would chatter so bad it rattled screws out of the interior panels. replaced it with a centerforce and haven't had a bit of trouble with it since :yesnod:. my guess is that you either have a ram  , got fluid/grease/oil on the friction material or the flywheel wasn't resurfaced correctly. (you did have the flywheel resurfaced, right?)
Took it back to the shop that did the clutch and explained the problem, they adjusted the clutch linkage, for a little more free play, and it seems like that fixed the problem. Wish I could have figured that one out, but I'm glad it was a simple (free) fix.
could an oil leak from rear main seal find it's way to the clutch disk?

actually an oil leak from the rear main *or* the input shaft of the tranny can both do it. notice the screenname? i got it from changing the clutch in my car 3 times in 4-1/2 years. per the clutch manufaturers recommendations, i changed out my rear main seal with the first clutch. after the third clutch i decided there was definately some other problem (duh). noticed on all three clutches that the disk still had lots of material but just was slipping. while i had the trans out i set it up on the workbench with the tail shaft up at about a 30* angle. sure enough, overnight i had a nice little snail trail of oil dripping off the input splines. just rebuilt the entire tranny and haven't had a bit of problem since.

What did they mean by free play? More pedal before the clutch engages?
