Default Vacuum Advance unit?

What brand should I buy? I've seen adjustable ones at Summit. Are these the way to go or is it just one more thing to screw around with? My original one barely moves so I figure it is shot.
I am rebuilding my distributor and this is the last step.

Check out Lar's paper in the tech help section. He has a lot of info on this topic.

I think he recomends a Delco unit, even gives a NAPA part # Before I read his paper I bought a Crane adjustable unit (came with new springs also to taylor the mechanical advance) aprox. $21.00 The vac. canister is also adj.

If you have an adjustable timing light, know that you're timing marks are in the correct place (i.e TDC really is TDC), have a vacuum gauge, and want to get your engine running at exactly the best advance curve, buy the adjustable one from Summit. The vacuum advance is simply a tool to fine tune your advance curve. If you really want to get the "perfect" advance curve it is convenient to have an adjustable vacuum unit. But you'll also might need different springs and will have to do a lot of "seat of the pants" tuning. If you want to have any dyno tuning done, the shop will thank you for having an adjustable vacuum advance.
