Airfilter Clearance

What is the minimal clearance that my vette should have from the top of the airfilter lid to the hood on a 77.

As long as the motor mounts are in good shape, I imagine 1/2" clearance would be plenty. Put a few very thin "cones" of plumbers putty on the top of the air cleaner. Close the hood carefully, and see how they squash down.

Thanks gcusmano, I did change the mounts about 10 years ago, so I will make sure it has 1/2 clearance, thanks for the info.
