I've ordered the correct model carb for my 70 350/300 AT AC car. Previous owner installed 78 Carter (350/185hp). I ordered a correct rebuilt Rochester Quadrajet 7040202. From what I can determine the 7040212 never existed that the Black Book shows to be correct for my build date of June 70. Manufacture date is later than my car should have but it should work well for mine.
At present passing gear doesn't kick in with Carter carb. Originally, what controlled passing gear on the TH400 and what else might I need to purchase to make it work?
Also, originally, did it have a mechanism to increase idle with AC on?
I can't seem to locate a good illustration of these components that were probably removed with the original carb.
By the way, an ASE mechanic I used a few weeks ago said the modulator controlled the passing gear and replaced the modulator, fluid and filter and still no passing gear!
