Possible Smog Pump problem -
I have a '79 with an L82 engine. I'm pretty sure I'm hearing a drone noise over the sound of the engine starting at around 3000 RPM. It seems to get louder as RPM's go up. My wife says she doesn't hear anything, but I can tell a difference in the sound of the engine. (it started about a week ago). I think it's coming from the smog pump. Has anyone had a similar experience? I plan to remove the belt and see if I still hear it, but I thought I'd ask around here. ... Don't know if this is appropriate or not, but on a differrent topic, Has anyone done one of those Borgenson steering conversions on their C3? Did it make a difference in handling?

take the belt off the pump and see if you still hear it , one of those cheap harbor freight mechanics stethoscopes are good to have, could also be other things, alt. beaings, fan clutch, low power steering fluid, and yes on the borg
