If you're stating actual speedo reading, tire size is irrelevant.
Since the car has smaller tires the speedo may be reading 60 but the car is actually going at a slower speed, substituting 55 gives you 3:10 which is closer to the actual 3:08, so how is tire size irrelevant to determining the gear ratio?

If the OP is going by the speedo reading in an effort to reverse calculate diff ratio, actual vehicle speed is irrelevant. The car could be up on blocks with no wheels on it at all and the reading would be the same.
If someone wants to use the on-line calculators to figure out diff ratio, the stock OEM tire OD/size must be used and NOT the actual tire size. That's why you ended up with an incorrect answer.
