Or better yet...if what you say is true...why is the AIM just wrong?
Okay.. lets try this... You keep wanting to use the larger upper hole... and what I'm saying is that if you didn't have cruise control you wouldn't have that hole...

To validate this, go to your assembly manual where it shows the hole diagram. Page 86.

Look at ViewB (lower right side) Hole E1 both on the chart and on the diagram. E1 is in my picture above it is marked Hole B.

E) K30 CRUISE CONTROL
1. 1.63 +/- .02 DIA HOLE at
location shown.

To my knowledge that hole was only placed in the firewall if you had cruise control. So the presence of this hole tells me it was a cruise control car.

You can also look at the inner fender on the driver side and see if there is a bracket riveted there for the transducer. The bracket is pictured on page 338 of the assembly manual. Go to page 485 in your AIM and you'll see the cruise harness routing through the firewall in the hole marked B above.

Now go to your cable route page where it shows the cable entering from the tunnel area... It should say M21 and M20.. If the car had a MT this is where your cable would enter the car (also validated on the mt/no cruise car I have here) but it is not Hole B in my picture, it is hole C in my picture.

You say the car is a AT.. so in your speedo route picture, Page 496 shows the AT cars routing in through the hole next to the brake booster. That page should show M38

What I seeing is that the AIM isn't wrong, it's actually validating what I'm telling you.

Wilcox, I want to thank you for the information and your patience with this. I have yet to get a chance to look up those references, but I have no doubt it's you say. I'll look to verify tonight, but I do believe the bracket is there. I just didn't know what it was. Its good to know I should be able to hook up a factory cruise if I wanted. You guys have already gotten a lot of my money, by if for no other reason than tree help you provided here...you will get more. :-)
