I stumbled across that before. It's actually a fairly good list. Probably a little short on C4s, but they did at least manage to bump the performance up somewhat by then, even the cars looked like a crappier version of a Firebird. A lot of C3s on the list--probably deservedly. It's easy to forget that a lot of the C3s were actually very poor cars. The mid 70s were a sad time. The Crossfire '82 isn't really fair though. Except for the loss of the 4 speed it was arguably the best C3 since the government ruined them.
My first vete was the 88 Anniversary Edition - I actually really liked that car - I did trade up for a C5, though. My current is a 79, but really nothing stock about it. I still likem both - The 79 is by far my favorite of the 4 I've owned. So according to that article, my taste must suck.
I cannot believe they dident have the 84 corvette on it, but they had the cool 82 CE. the 84 had a TON of one year only stuff on it, I know, my step dad has one that I have to work on as well.
What a load of rubbish. They (he) judge(s) the cars from todays perspective without taking in to account what was mechanically possible, what was stylish and what's not, ... and everyone knows you don't discuss about colors, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

The first C4's had a tough 'birth'. GM was getting dominated by Japanese vehicles and constantly fretting about "losing market share". The Corvette had been in need of a total redesign for about 10 years. And new design folks couldn't get their act together.
When it came out, I bought an '84 in July of '83. I thought the electronic instruments and real-time mileage/fuel system was really cool...and I still do. The handling capabilities of the car were as good as anything in the world. But, the interior was as clinical as you could get: plain, cramped, no-class. I didn't care--until I went to sell it two years later .

I bought a used 86 Z51 and a new 90 Z51. Coolest cars on the road period. Yeah, they handled and had huevos.
1958 corvette was the most beautiful corvette ever made period.
Totally agree......have always thought the 58 was better looking with the twin lamps at front. The 58 is my fav C1 . Stunning styling......the latter C1 is a weird design.1961 ....Looks like a c1 and c2 were cut in half and glued together ..... A custom crash vette
Don't much value in the writer of that article, just his personal opinion , which is fine for him to be wrong like everybody else, he just did it in front of the world
Gotta admitt though those c4 pace cars were about the ugliest corvettes ever ....whew .... All over body shivers ugly ....

Who cares what some writer who probably drives a ricer or prissy Euro-sedan says? Some of the comments were true, but it was still a Corvette. And everyone wanted one but was too conservative or practical-minded to buy one. Crap like this just steams me...

Amazing how tastes vary. I think the 84 interior with the electronic dash is the best looking interior of any car for all time.
I'm on my 3rd corvette a 1996 Collector edition. It's my first modern Corvette. My 2 previous Corvettes were a '72 LT-1, M-22 4sp, Convertible with both tops, I'd kill to still have this one but my 3rd divorce got it, had to sell after 17yrs of ownership. 2nd was a 1977 L-48, probably would not have bought it but an Uncle was selling so I decided to keep it in the family for a while, nothing special but drove pretty well for what it was. I wasn't crazy myself about the C4's when they first came out because mainly the Firebirds had already been out a year and yes they looked too similar for my taste. But isn't that really what its all about , they are all CORVETTES pluses and minuses everywhere, detractors every where but almost anyone that doesn't have one wants one. Gotta say it, I like 'em all some more than others just like everyone else. I'd be hard pressed to pick 10 worst anything as someone likes em all. But picking on one for taste ain't right, I'm sure we all know or have seen one that we wonder what were they thinking when they did that. But it's not ours to judge.

Because the author doesn't like paint schemes or all the chrome on a 58, doesn't mean others don't love the same thing. Yes the power was down for some years, but that can be fixed.
They are all still Corvettes and I would take any of these 10 worst Vettes over most any other car of their eras!
Like most I agree with some but not all of the choices.
When I bought my 78, I wanted the most performance one could get back in the day-bought mine in 1983 with 25,000 miles on it. I wanted an L-82 and it had to have a 4 speed. I really wanted an 80 but since the L-82 did not come with a 4 speed, I eliminated that body style. Ended up with an L-82, 4 speed, with gymkhana suspension and have loved every minute of the car. Besides the aforementioned options, the only other options on the car was A/C, nothing else-manual door locks, manual windows, no rear defrost, and no tilt wheel. Whoever ordered the car was interested just in performance-my kind of owner. With some minor-very minor-exhaust, emissions, and engine mods-the car makes 233 RWHP versus the 220 Net HP when new-not bad. 17 Inch rims with Ultra high performance tires, completely upgraded factory suspension and steering and the car drives like a modern sports car. I finally went for the gusto in ultimate performance in 2010-bought a brand new Z06. Still love the 78 though!
