My transmission just stopped going in to reverse. 1st through 4 is fine but it will not go in reverse. I disconnected the linkage but still can't get it to shift in reverse by hand. Looking for suggestions.
I am no expert in this field, but some might ask for a little more information.
Such as:
Year of Corvette?
Stock or aftermarket shifter?
Do you know which transmission you have?
When was the last time things were adjusted / changed?
Ok. That's a start. So it is the original T-handle shifter?
Does the shifter move over into the reverse area? Or can you not get it over all the way to the left and up?
Is there any sort of grinding noise when moving into reverse?
You disconnected the linkage (rod) and from under the car, the reverse shift arm wont move?
If so, trans will have to come out. Although the lever just moves the reverse gear forward in the tail housing, hard to think of anything that would prevent that internally.
are you aware that with the engine running inorder to engage reverse you first have to put it in a foward gear. This is mentioned in the owners manual.
