Can it be done?
My brother and I are thinking of starting to restore are 73 Corvette. We are working on a budget and talk about space and time. Decide to do it right and take the body off the frame and sandblast and paint frame, sense car has been in Montana all is life almost. We plan on building a motor from the 350 that is already in there (looks like it is not the original motor)if it looks good after we pull it out. BUT here is the question I got. We would like to swap the TH350 for a manual transmission a 4 speed or 5 speed, which ever is easier/cheaper. Not sure if they sell kits for this or not dint do any research at all yet, You guys usually give the best advice on were to shop. Any suggestion?

Cheapest route will be to find used core parts and a rebuilt Muncie 4 spd. Easiest and most efficient long term is to go with a 5 speed (Tremec, Richmond, Keisler), OD manual trans. the kits are available from several vendors out there but not the cheapest. I sunk $3800 into my Tremec TKO 600 conversion from TH400 in parts alone.

How about putting a little WC t5 5 speed trans from a camaro or firebird in there for a fraction of the price. Put 1 in my 68 and 1 in my 77. No problems. Do a search, lots of great info out there from guys that have done the swap. Good luck with the project.
