Default White Performance 383 Dart Block Engine

Gents and Ladies,
I have a 1978 Vet and I have been restoring to a running condition.

The engine is now running but it is stock except for the Edelbrock Performer Intake and Headers. I have looked as all of the different ways to make a great reliable 450+ HP engine. White Performance in Tenn has a new Dart Block, Steel crank, roller cam & rockers, Forged Pistons and rods to name the major items for $4,795.

They are about to finish their own Dyno Stand and for $600 they will use my carb, my intake, my MSD Distribitor with wires and I have asked to witness the Dyno.

Has anyone used them or purchased this 383 Dart Engine assembly?
Looking for advise and comments.
Regards,
Rick from Tomball TX

Pauldanna is building a 427 sbc and has had some issues with skip white. Youd need to talk to paul. Check out cncmotorsports. Good folks.

Who's parts are they going to use. Forged this and steel that sounds good often, but you should get the names and do a search to see what people say or have experience with.

I would be leery of any engine that doesn't mention the brand of rotating assembly, heads, etc. Lots of engine builders are carrying a cheaper line of crate motors with secret stuff inside an SHP block. I suspect Chicom components, lol.

I believe his username is pauldanna could be pauldana. The sold him one rotating assembly and sent another. I think it all got worked out though. Like others have said be sure what you get is what you wanted. If you do an internet search I think you might reconsider.

Do you know how to tell when your kids are lying to you?
Too much detail in the story.
Look at some of Skip's ads - too much BS in the story, not much detail (ProComp cranks, rods, heads).

Also note how they run down "others that use XXX". No good builder needs to run down others on the market, they simply let their quality stand on its own.

Do yourself a favor and do searches on several performance forums.

They name all of the manufacturing brand names. The Crank is steel by Scat, pistons by Prob, cam by Comp.

I have done some checking and am planning to visit them in person and to witness the test on the Dyno.

They machine their own aluminum heads that I was told were cast in Down Under Country not China. There oil pan I believe comes from China. The block is a new Dart, Scat, Prob, etc. I have to admit it is cheaper than I can buy and build it myself.

Has anyone out there bought one of these Dart Block 383 from them?

That is what I was thinking but if the castings are of correct alloy and they machine the castings in house, will they perform on the Dyno seems the real issue.

I would prefer Dart Heads or another USA brand.

Remember Skip White and WHite Performance are two different shops down the road from each other. One is SKip and the other I believe is his nephew. Completely different operations, however similar builds/parts, etc.

My buddy recently got a 505 BB from Skip. Overall good, but when he got it they didn't paint the oil pan black like he requested, it was orange. The distributor wasn't installed as they said it was going to be, and it ended up being bad. They sent the wrong valve covers, then gave him a hassle to get the right ones in a timely manner. Lastly, the paperwork only had 1 run checklist completed where they advertise the motor is ran at least twice. The second column was not completed.

He said they were awesome and helpful during the ordering process, but when trying to resolve those issues after delivery they were complete ***holes, calling him a damn yankee, and hanging up on him. He's currently in a credit card dispute with them.

Two different sites;

http://www.skipwhiteperformance.com/

http://www.whiteperformance.com/

So, motor is good so far, less then 1000mi, but customer service is in the dumps.
