While bleeding the brakes after the rear brakes were disconnected, I notice that brake fluid shoots several inches into the air from the front section of the master cylinder every time the pedal is pressed. I believe I nearly have the brakes fully bled, but the fluid still shoots out with every pedal press. Does this indicate tht anything is wrong with the MC? I don't recall this happening the last time I bled them.
They will do that sometimes, that's why most leave the cap on when they bleed the brakes...the fluid will strip paint no problem. I put the cap on with the bails up, but not tightened.
Exactly! Put lid on M/C and just snug bale straps on top (without fully locking them in) for bleeding the brakes. About every 10 pedal strokes, remove the cover and refill the fluid to the correct level. Repeat as required. You don't want brake fluid to land on ANY painted surface.
