Default New Flowmaster exhaust

A member of my local Corvette club told me The Flowmaster R&D shop in North Idaho was looking for a 1980, 81, or 82 for a subject to help design the new exhaust system they are going to market. They are using various models and year variation of Vette to fine tune the new system. I volunteered my 1980 L82 for the project.

They removed my stock exhaust from the headers back,( I stored it intact) installed a new stainless system, including a lower back pressure ccatalytic converter. I understand the first set of mufflers they installed had to much drone in the car for good sound. They redesigned the mufflers and installed the new ones. They then removed the prototype to keep, built and installed a duplicate on the car. with new Flowmaster tips. The installation looks good and sounds great. It gives a nice solid rumble going down the highway. You can talk over it. It sounds like 400 HP instead of 250. A friednd who has a Corsa exhaust on his C4 says this is much better.

I don't have any dyno results, but the car but it seems to breathe better and has noticeably more power.

I was told that they took videos of the cars for their website that will be out in a month or two. Something to look out for if you are contemplating a new system. The guy who engineered the mufflers is top notch.

Sorry, no equipment for a video/audio. When They post on their website I'll add another thread. I'm told they wil have the new exhausts on the market in a month or two. As far as I know they are still pulling cars in for development. As far as pictures, the exhaust looks like the stock one except for the word Flowmaster on the tips.
