Hey Folks,
First off, thanks so much for the awesome info on the weatherstripping!! Thanks to you all my wife is getting a great deal and great weatherstripping from Wilcox Corvette!! I thought I would ask you to help regarding the windshield wiper door that is vacuum powered. The door just sticks in the upward position whether or not the car is running or off!! I havent ordered the vacuum trouble shooting book yet, but will so I have the answers in the future. Any ideas?? Thanks again for all the great help!! JB

Lack of vacuum to the actuator is the issue...and it can be...No vacuum at all to the system and the door is stuck open...the vacuum switch at the right wiper arm is bad or not adjusted correctly...the override switch under the steering column is pulled down...the electric solenoid switch under your tachometer is bad...the actuator relay is bad...or the actuator seals themselves in your actuator are bad or the actuator internal main seal is bad and needing replacing. That is what can be wrong with it...so information is needed to best isolate the problem....OOOPS...it could also be a bad storage tank and or hoses.

First ...you have to check and see if you have strong vacuum on the large CENTER hose on your actuator relay for your wiper door. If you do...GOOD. Then ...the small hose that goes to the actuator relay need to be able to "switch' SO...if you crank your car and the wiper switch is off...and the override switch is UP...check and see if you have vacuum on this small hose going to your actuator relay....then switch the wipers on and see if you loose vacuum. This small hose is the CONTROL and if it does not go from vacuum to no vacuum...it will not switch the actuator relay and make the wiper door actuator to change operation.

WOW Dub,
Man, like I said, car people are the best!! Thanks so much not only for all the great info, but for being so FAST!! I will let you know what happens. Ive printed out your info and am going to go through every step as you stated. I dont know if this matters, but when the car is turned off, I can push the wiper door down, and when the car is turned off, I can hear a loud "hiss" coming from that relay on the passenger side under the wiper door with all the hoses connected to it. Does that help at all?? Thank you again my friend!! JB

Yep. Check to ensure the vacuum hoses at the relay are connected well. It's also possible you may need a replacement vacuum relay.
