If you look at a site such as Napa the 70 corvette uses a different mount than the 70 chevelle but the 70 corvette mount is the same as the 78 corvette. I would check with energy suspension they also have two different mounts based on application,
Wonderin' now if I got the right motor mounts for my recent rebuild. When I installed everything, the fan just wiped at the top of the stock fan shroud. I had to release the shroud from its two points where it passed through the radiator support; the two tabs still 'sit' in the support but do not pass through the slots.
Summit lists them as suitable for 1963 to 1983 corvette with a GEN 1 Small block chevy. Pay attention to the "notes" in the description.
Are the listed dimensions for the "short wide" mounts the same as your original motor mounts? They should be.
I used ENS-3-1120G which should be the same mounts plus a transmission mount.
The notes read the same:
"Notes:Kit includes early style "short and wide" motor mount that measures 2 5/8 in. between the ears and 1 3/4 in. tall to the center of the through bolt hole and polyurethane mount for automatic transmissions."
maybe the tranny mount needs to be shimmed to raise the tail of tranny a little to lower the front of the engine .what tranny mount did you use ?
That is a possibility. I'll measure the one that's in it and the one I took out to see if there's a difference. I used the Energy Suspension transmission mount too.
with the preload plates (flat steel plates supplied with new mounts) it raises the motor and trans about an 1/8-3/16ths of an inch or so, found this out when i swapped them out in my 71 chevelle and was hitting fan shroud!!!
lay a stock motor mount and a ES mount with the plate under it flat on a table and you can see the height differance!!!
