77 corvette Steering column
I have a 77 corvette however having problems with steering wheel up and down movement.
the car has a telescopic steering column. I think previous owner may have tried to rectify problem. However problem still exists. Steering column head is tight but steering wheel is loose.
I have disassembled top end down to the top bearing. Can anybody please tell me what parts and in the correct order for re assembly.
Have also found a tapered spacer but not sure where this belongs.

Also stated a compression tool is required .. when I can push retainer n spring quite easily with my hand..makes me wonder why and if something is missing.
Appreciate any help
