Default Question/Opinion?

Hey guys,
I was wandering what is the best way to wash my '73 Corvette...?
I know it sounds silly but Im afraid to scratch that fiberglass body if I use the wrong stuff...I was thinking warm soap water with a car sponge.

Is the sponge too rough or its ok?...gosh I feel like I have a newborn baby

Thanks

I use soap, water, and a piece of an old bath towel.

Just any car washing product meant for cars...NOT dish soap. It will strip wax etc.....

You're not washing fiberglass, you're washing paint. So it's like any other car.

Does your car sit outside or is it garaged? Do you drive in all types of weather or just sunny days? The reason I ask, is that my car has had 2 washes in the last 5 years. I prefer to keep away from water when at all possible and use a good detail spray. I am currently using a "waterless carwash" product that is great to remove bugs, dust, etc and doesn't harm the paint. I use micro-fibre towels to apply and remove and have great results.

here's the product....not sure if it's available for you, but it works great.

Here's their website, so maybe you could order some if you like.

I do the same-keep water away from these old birds as much as possible. I wash mine about every 2 years for the same reason. BTW-most mechanical equipment not designed for water-snowblower excepted-should be kept away from water if at all possible for longevity. My lawn tractor is 17 years old and it has never seen the hose-I use a back pack blower to clear away the debris after every cutting. Like new!

I avoid washing too. I use detailer and microfiber also. Sometimes you get caught in the rain though and all the road grime is too much for just a detailer. I use car wash soap and microfiber to wash my cars then.

I once made the mistake, at the urging of my wife, to run my 64 SS through a touchless car wash. I'll never do that again. My engine bay is detailed, so it took me hours to get it cleaned back up again!
