Default Short headers

Does anyone make shorty headers that will bolt directly to the stock exhaust? It's not really stock exhaust as it has true dual exhaust but still has stock exhaust manifolds. I was wondering if there were headers that would basically terminate at the same spot as the manifolds.

the mcjacks headers are a great header but expensive .since you already have tru duals on ,I would go with long tube headers from summit and save a lot .price it out and decide what your pocket book can afford.

Any "header" that you get, that will fit the stock exhaust system, is not going to flow much more than the stock exhaust manifolds, and will be expensive. You will be money and power ahead if you buy some inexpensive long tube headers, and have a muffler shop cut your exhaust and install header reducers. It will cost less, and make more power, win-win. Is your exhaust system presently a good, 2 1/2" system?

There is very little difference on the street between long tube headers and shorty headers, again, on the street. The reason most car manufacturers use a tubular type exhaust manifold for hi po engines today is that shorty's DO OFFER advantages over stock cast iron manifolds. Sanderson's website has plenty of useful info comparing shorty headers to LTH. LTH are just no worth the hazzle on street engines.

OK, you've got a point there, jb. I've read the same article, here's a link to it, if anybody's interested:

http://www.sandersonheaders.com/Lets-Get-Technical.html

I have block-huggers on my '80 'vette, and this article has convinced me to not bother upgrading them. My real point is that headers that will bolt up to the exhaust in the stock exhaust location are pretty pricey. I know, I know, I'm like a waffle, flip-flopping my position, right?

Anyway, I really like my block-hugger headers. There are no issues with clearance, they are very easy to install and remove, (they go in and out from the top of the engine compartment) and they are a big improvement from the stock manifolds. And, they were pretty cheap. What I did was just order the complete system from Corvette Central, ceramic coated block-hugger headers, 2 1/2" aluminized exhaust system, with Magnaflow mufflers, 600 and some odd bucks.

This is what I have. They are true duals all the way back. Just looking at the easiest options if I add the headers.
