Default What am I missing here Re: '79 AC bracket

OK. I have the rest of the exhaust manifold on and I know how the bracket goes on but... This bolt that holds the AC bracket and is the first Manifold stud has me stumped. Does the longer end thread into the block? Does it go like the picture I have? Is there something missing? If I thread it in the rest of the way the way I have it here, I doubt I would have enough thread to put on a bolt and I really don't think it would thread in all the way to the nut either to tighten up the manifold.

Thanks.

Stock exhaust manifolds are much thicker in that bolt area. A spacer would work or maybe a spacer and jamb nut. I will see if I have a pic.. On my '77 the end of the double ended bolt that passes through the A/C bracket is right at 1.5 inches long. Room for the bracket and a self locking nut with about three threads showing when tightened. mike...

Thanks. Perhaps there was a spacer on it when I removed it, but It wasn't in the baggie with everything else from when I took it off. That is the only thing that would make sense.

You have that stub/bolt in backwards. It is easy to determine if you had the original cast manifold.

Thanks. Looks like I need to go look for what was used as a spacer or get something else that will work.

I feel your pain. I once started to re-organize my AIM with all engine related pics. in a section of my own making but finally gave in and now go through the original order one page at a time. mike...

With the headers you need to make up a spacer the thickness of the manifold minus the thickness of the header flange.

exactly right its backwards, and just put a nut on it to tighten it to the head.
