Just leave it alone, tend to maintenance with the wear items as needed. If it has really bad seat foam I would pull the covers and replace the foam though, no big deal and not a restoration.
Use the winter to map out with your wife a circuit of car shows to drive it to and show it next summer.
Did someone mention "Add go fast parts" Factory 427 4 speed
You could only make it worse with much work on it.
Depending on just how original this car really is You might want to check out the Survivor Class rules at both the NCRS and Bloomington Gold. If the Car is a canadate it might take You in a new direction in our Corvette Hobby. This is something I have never done but if I had a car like that it would be very temping. I have been to the big shows and when I see the survivor cars I want to restore them and then I need to remember that yes they are only original once.
Seems most here are of the same opinion. Keep my grubby little hands off it. I have a bunch of general maintenance items and stuff like cleaning up everythig underneath. You can still see the original paint on the frame and there is no rust on it so it will be a pretty easy job. Have enclosed a couple more pics. Have to change out the red heater hoses and ignition wires. Being a 390 horse, did this come with shielded ignition wires? Thanks again guys!
Looks Great !!!
I'd leave it.
I toyed with the idea of running out and getting my '68 Safari Yellow reshot right after I purchased it 2 yrs ago.
Well it still has the 45 yr old laquer and I like the fact it actually stands out.
I could have it reshot and cleared and look like the Ford Focus parked next to me.
This week unmolested is in who knows what trend(s) is next.
Resto Mods in the USA are commanding more than the "orig" cars.
Go Figure.
I'd drive it and enjoy it.
To answer your question; yes 427/390 cars had the shielding on the plug wires. Plug end should be 45 degrees.
The heater hoses as you pointed out were black, one was larger than the other.
