Default Headers for an L82 1978 vette

Hi,

Does anyone sell an off the shelf set of headers that will work WITHOUT modification to the engine and associated emission equipment.

Most seem to say removal of some part of if it is required.

Thanks in advance

Mel,

great link!!

Thanks so much.

I need to go over it again whilst looking in the engine bay, but it looks like (on the surface) that these guys have done their homework!

does anyone have any comment on the other commonly suggested replacement headers (CC or McJacks shorties etc)

I put mic jacks on my 78 l82. They were perfect fit. I used the 82s 2.5" that came with the air tubes....

Summit or Jegs house brand headers + the Hooker dual exhaust kit.
Bolts right in. I've done this several times.

Hedman #68301. Of course, you have to remove the heat riser and adapt your exhaust system to fit the headers. You can adapt the heat stove to the driver's side header. I run this set with Jet Hot coating. Until this spring, I had smog pump attached.

The McJacks allow you to keep all emission equipment including heat riser.
I Had to fashion spacers for the heat riser valve bracket, and a shim for the AC bracket......the heat stove can even be made to work.
