Default 76 power brake booster

I am changing the brake booster on my 76 and have 2 questions. What finish did the original have? and where did the emissions sticker go?
I believe it was semi gloss black and my emissions sticker is on the booster itself. I have seem many on the cowl where the booster bolts up. Someone told me they could be either place? What say the experts???

Thaks,

Mike

I'm FAR from an expert but...

I just replaced the booster in my '76 (serious pain in the ar*e). I believe the older unit is original and has a black enamel finish. The emission sticker is affixed to the top of the unit as depicted. I tried to remove it to attach to the new unit, but it began to tear. I suppose if I want the original look, I'll have to find a replacement sticker.

By the way, were you able to use the original piston rod on the new booster without modification? That's a whole other topic.

First, here's my recent thread on that:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...ster-swap.html

Second, I discovered that the piston rods included with the new booster were too short and non-adjustable. The rod from the original unit was WAY too long for the new unit, alleged by the supplier to be a 'correct 1976 replacement'. Long story short, that's what I did: shorten the original rod. And I did this after consulting with brake shops and visiting wrecking yards who suggested I do just that.

Hopefully your journey down this road won't be so difficult. And - again - I'm a newbie to 'Vette-dom. Take anything I say for what it's worth. There are folks here who've forgotten more about these cars than I'll learn in the next ten years.
