Cleaning fender louvers?

Cleaning fender louvers?
The previous owner "blacked out" the fender louvers on the car. I'm going to go take them off...any suggestions on how to clean off the black paint without damaging the surface underneath?

Are you talking about the actual louvered areas in the fiberglass fender itself, or the chrome inserts? If it's the insert, use some lacquer thinner to see if that will remove the paint. If you're talking about the actual fender, that will be trickier. What kind of paint is on the car? If it's urethane, some lacquer thinner should be safe to use on it for a short period to see if that will remove the black. If the car is painted with lacquer, I'd stay away from the thinner, but I don't have another alternative......
