I'm no expert on the dates on ring and pinion gears, BUT seems like your ring gear is dated Oct, 67. The pinion gear is dated Jan, 67. Seems like a LONG time between the manufacture of both gears for them to be a "pair" . I would think they would be closer in date. The Jan. 67 pinion would be for a 67 car, while the Oct, 67 ring gear would be for an early 68. Are these a matched set? As others have said, count the teeth on the ring gear, count the teeth on the pinion, and divide, 37/10 = 3.70 and so on. Chuck
Hi
Thanks so far.
Problem is that I don't know the number of teeth of the pinion.
Do all ratios have 37 tooth rings ?
Is it only the pinion changing in tooth number ?
I thought that ring & pinion need to match and therefore both changing the number of teeth.
I did ask the seller to count the pinion teeth and hope this info comes B4 the auction ends.
I will also ask him about the match due to different dates, thanks for the hint.

Just checked a 3.08 ring and pinion I have in the basement. Missed the part of your post that answered your question 3710 37 ring 10 pinion is a 3.70 rear. My ring gear is dated 5-73 (May, 1973), my pinion gear is dated 7-3. (July, 1973) BTW, my 3.08 is 37/12 37 ring, 12 pinion. Chuck
Re: 68 ring & pinion identification. (Chuck Gongloff)
Yes, I missed it too.
It actually says 10 to 37, so 3.7 ratio.
I will bit on it as the date even fits to my cars build date.
Always good to have a spare set.
My car actually has a 3.7 rear originally in it.
Thanks for all the help.
So it looks like if only the pinion is changing, ring gear always has 37 teeth.
