Default 1976 power windows not working

Hi I own a 76 vette and wanted to know how I can fix it myself. Driver side window works fine. The passenger side window goes down not even an inch before it just stops. The motor sounds like it's dying. It is making a sound like it's trying, but nothing is happening. What should I start troubleshooting. And is it easy to take those door panels off?

First off:
How long have you owned the car??? If you have owned it for a while and the window has worked like the drivers side....GREAT...do not answer the question.

If you just got the car...does it have sport side view mirrors or the factory chrome mirrors. The reason i am asking is that often times when some "BOZO" installs manual remote sport mirrors...they incorrectly route the cable and the window binds on it when it tries to go down.

The "worst" part for someone who does not have the correct tool to remove the clip that holds on your "LOCK-UNLOCK" ****. Other than that...the erst ..at least for me...it quite painless...UNLESS...some "BOZO" went in and used machine screws for the inside door grab handle that were too long...and when the window regulator went up and or down...the regulator can catch on one of them and bend the heck out of it and make it a ROYAL PAIN to straighten it out so it can be removed. It does require the window to be down to do this though. Lets hope that this is not the case.

You can use a very small flat blade screwdriver and a angled pick tool to get the clip off of the "LOCK-UNLOCK" ****. Depending on the condition of parts...you may want to have someone standing behind the door and prevent you from hyper-extending the hinges due to the amount of force it may take to be able to see and get to the clip...because you may have to push really hard on the door panel so you can get the tools in there to get it to pop off. Make sure you are in a clean area...due to you do not want the clip to fly out into the "abyss".

Get to that point and then you can check on the motor electrical connector at the motor and possibly see an obstruction, etc. Also make sure that the engine is running(higher voltage) or use a battery charger.

I removed my window motors recently & cleaned out the old grease that had set like wax. Then I sprayed in new aerosol lithium grease while running the motor on the bench with a battery charger for a power source. I went from having one slow motor & one non-operational motor to two motors that could power an ejection seat

most of the parts suppliers have instructions on the web to remove the window motors.

THEY ALL MENTION THAT YOU CAN DAMAGE THE DOOR IF REMOVED INCORRECTLY.

Actually never mind on this. If I open the door, the window goes down fine. It was just binding in the groove. YAY for T-tops today!
