depends on which vette your asking about. any vette that came with factory side exhaust came with a true dual exhaust. i'm even pretty sure all v-8 vettes prior to the mid 70's were true dual exhaust. the demise of the true dual exhaust happened around '74 or '75 when catalytic converters made it into regular production and hasn't been back since, at least not from the factory. to my knowledge (and this is by no means a fact) the only factory true dual exhaust production car currently in production is the dodge viper.
clutchdust is correct. 74 still came with true duals, that is an exhaust pipe, muffler, and tail pipe for each side of the car (4 cylinders each). In '75, the catalytic Converter was added. The exhaust pipes off the manifolds came together into one pipe(under the front of the passenger seat), catalytic converter, then back to 2 pipes and 2 mufflers (one out each side to look like dual exhaust).
Remember Myst, as my third grade teacher always told me after my question, "There are no stupid questions, just stupid people." I never liked her. :conehead
