Default Tie rod installation

I need help to put my steering rack back.
I've removed the steering rack from my 72 and installed new tie rods, Left and right threads. I did not mark where they were placed on the rack before removal. Is there a correct placement for the left and right tie rods on the steering rack?
To clarify,For the driver side does left tread tie rod connect to wheel knuckle or middle steering rack?
For the passenger side does the left thread tie rod connect to wheel knuckle or middle position steering rack?

GM always listed the outer as the right hand thread and the inner as the left. 3826814 was right hand thread, 3826596 was left hand thread.

A '72 Corvette does not have, as original equipment, a "steering rack" as in "rack and pinion". The OE set up is a recirculating ball steering box, with a pitman arm extending from it, which, in turn, attaches to the center link and/or power steering ram, if so equipped.

Assuming that your car was converted to an R&P set up, the threads of the rack will determine which tie rod ends go where. The ends have to thread ON to the inner tie rods.

If, by some chance, you're confusing "rack" with the center link of an OE set-up, an easy way to determine which tie rod ends go where, the inner rods ends usually have the holes for the grease fittings on the outer perimeter of the rod end's body, so they face "in" when installed, while the outer tie rods have the fitting in the center of the rod ends end cap, so they face "down" when installed.
