Honestly I am ok with the horsepower. Most important is that it all works!

BTW - how did you assess that this is the 305 HP version of the engine?

Thanks!

The heads and block indicate it's a 2000 engine and the 2000 model year Camaro was rated at 305hp.

You could look this stuff up...

I did research the serial numbers which is what lead me to think it was from a Corvette. Note the LS1 versions with car model separated by /. I thought this meant that the first line was Corvette, second, Camaro, third Firebird.
As several have indicated the engine is from a Camaro / Firebird I wanted to know what resource was used to compare to what I found (opportunity to understand what I misinterpreted).

One choice to get all you need is to go to a pick and pull, I believe ours charges 300.00 for a complete engine. Purchase a complete engine and take everything you need.
The problem you might have is finding everything you need on one vehicle.

I am going to look into that. Usually living in the country of Kali means high prices.

In it's current state, it's kinda tough to figure what condition the engine is in without disassembly.
You might want to just get a starter and a strong battery to crank it over on the stand and see if anything obvious is wrong with it.
BTW, get a truck or newer LS starter with the 2 long bolts. Do a search over at LS1tech on LS1 starters and broken blocks to find out why.

I was just able to pick up all the accessories, brackets, intake manifold, starter, exhaust manifolds, throttle body, gas pedal, oil pan, flex plate, harness, from an LS6 with 35k miles today
$600 just missing fuel rails, injectors, and computer. I am thinking about finding, building an engine stand to run it once I find the balance of the parts.

You're reading that chart wrong. All 3 of those serial numbers were in all 3 of those applications.

Very good score on the accessories!

An LS6 intake alone is around $300. Great find.

Yes, I am very glad and feel very lucky to have been able to make the deal I did on the parts. I hope my luck holds for the transmission!

Thanks again for the advice and support!

Just an FYI, I noticed you didn't get coils yet. They're $50 each new and the LS1s might be hard to find used. There was a thread about swapping out for the truck coils. They're easier to find used, cheaper, and according to LS1tech, better than the car coils.
You will need the truck plug wires with them IIRC.

Gary, thanks for the lead (no pun intended). I did pick up coils (forgot to list them) but if for some reason they don't work I will certainly look into your recommendation.

That sounds like a great deal. Did it come with the sensors as well?

Sorry for the confusion. I meant mine is the 305hp variant. All I know is mine has 305hp with 853 heads out of an Fbody. I would imagine yours would be similar, but I don't know for sure. I also know they aren't highly regarded in the LS1 community.

Sensors are included

I am ok with 305 HP especially considering I traded one engine that was valued at a couple of hundred dollars for the LS1. I am not stuck on having tons of horsepower, I will be happy with 305 and everything working!

If you use headers and get it tuned you should be well above 305hp. A good fresh air intake system, the LS6 intake, headers and a tune should put the engine into the 350hp or more range.

One thing to also remember is that the "305 HP" version of the LS1 is severely underrated. My 2000 Trans Am w/ the T-56 with nothing but a B&M shifter dynoed at 294 HP and 306 ft/lbs of torque. That means flywheel it was already in the 340 HP range. Plus, the same motor in the WS6 and SS was rated at 320 HP with basically no difference.

The car will be loosing some weight which should help? Lighter motor, lighter seats, no metal fan blade and cowling. Also planning on a composite spring in the front and rear. Every little bit helps

Well, weight won't help with HP

With a catback, lid and shifter the car ran a 13.11 at 106 MPH with a 2.1 or 2.2 60 foot on the original tires. I was babying it off the line as I was running the stock 10 bolt and had no money to fix it if it left it's internals all over the track. Oh, and it also pulled down high 20s (nearly 30) mpg on the highways.

I would think mid to high 12s would be a realistic outcome on the drag strip. I know C3s aren't featherweights nor are they setup for the drag strip, but I can't see it being slower than the TA.
