Default Help for Chrome in Colorado

I need to get front and rear bumpers rechromed and I live in Denver.
Denver Bumper is closing and Xtreme Chrome was flooded out. Ogden Chrome seems to be good from their adds and a firm in Texas advertises here. Anybody have any good success on good rechromers that can straighten the bent areas to the original size and fit close to Colorado.

Default Paul's Chrome

If you can't find a plater near you, then I suggest you check out Paul's Chroming in Western Pennsylvania. All they do I show chrome and everything they do is beautiful.

There are 2 places left in Colorado: Collins Bumper located on the west side of I-25 near the Loveland airport, and another place in Grand Junction that I can get you the name of if Collins can't do what you want.

I bought repro front bumper, front bumper guards and rear bumpers from a fellow in Boise ID for my '68. He decided to rechrome his originals and used Ogden Chrome. When he got his back he liked them so much that he decided to keep the originals and sell me the repros.

He reused the Ogden Chrome packaging to ship me the repos from Boise to Colorado Springs and it arrived without damage. BTW- Not only did they arrive ok, but I have looked at each peice several times under direct light and they are perfect.

If you have a good experience with a local CO rechromer let me know. My originals are in great shape, so I will eventually get them rechromed and put them back on. PM: rickmendoza@comcast.net

rick

Collins Chrome stopped chroming in July 2013. Apparently the EPA is moving faster than I am. Is the place in Grand Junction named Plating Specialties? If so has any body used them?

Rookie question: What is the approximate cost of having a non-dinged left-rear bumper piece rechromed to daily driver "specs"?

My rear bumpers were in great shape so I do not have exact pricing.
The front bumper guards quotes are as low as $65.00 each up to $190.00, repro front bumper guards are available for $135.00.
I would guess the rear bumper are half again the size and adjust the price accordingly.

Rick,
Collins is no longer chroming, Plating specialties in Grand Junction has their phone disconnected and the E-Mail box is full and not accepting any new E-Mails. There is place in Yuma, CO that can do small pieces like rear bumpers front supports but cannot do the front bumper.
It is down to 2 places in Utah, Ogden chrome and Slat Lake Chrome.
Salt Lake chrome is more reasonable in the quotes.

Lars,

The guy in CA that I bought my C3 removable top from told me there was a guy in CO named Lars that was the master quadrajet rebuilder. Would you happen to be that Lars?

If you are or know how I can contact him, please let me know. I recently bought a '68 C3 with a L-79 327ci 350 hp. I need knowledgeable help getting it set up for this high altitude of Colorado Springs. The car came from Fayetteville AR.

thx

Hey, Rick, why didn't you say you needed quadrajet work done when you looked at my '69 hardtop and garage. Lars lives about a mile down the road from my place, and we could have dropped by his place.

You can contact him at V8fastcars@msn.com. Tell him Ralph sent you.

Hey Ralph,

Upon my research I found his address and when I googled it I saw your house in relation to his.

I found a removable top for my '68 in Huntington Beach CA, 3.3 miles from my son. Great shape and even red. It is date coded Nov 67, so I know that it's a '68. I went and got it over Thanksgiving. While talking to the fella I bought it from he mentioned that there was a master Quadrajet carberator guy in CO and if I had any problem to send it to him. As far as the quadrajet work, I bought the vette in Fayetteville AR which is at a lower altitude. Of all I've read on the internet about Lars, he's the man! I've had it adjusted for the altitude, but I'm not sure just how good of an adjustment it was. It starts ok and seems to run ok, but when I get on it and the secondaries kick in, it just doesn't seem to have the pull that goes with the deep sound of them kicking in.

I had a '68 before with the L-79 engine and that car ran like a bat our of a burning stump. I would love to get his hands on my car.

Sold your '69 yet? Let's continue on my PM: rickmendoza@comcast.net

God Bless,
rick

I have used these guys in the past for both chrome and powdercoating.
Being in California, I'm surprised they are still in business!
