Default UJoint Help urgent.

I have replaced the Ujoints on the half shaft I'm down to the last clip and it seems the UJoint will not allow the last clip into the groove on the wheel yoke side. Its only a c..t hair off. Any suggestions can I grind down the clips, dremmel out the groove I'm at my wits end. Ive taken the end caps off 5 times there is not a loose bearing stuck in the bottom of the cap.

Those bend pretty easy, yours got distorted either when removing or installing.

I bent the piece that bolts to the hub. I was able to pry on it enough to get it seated, but it felt like it was binding, so I replaced.

Bolt it back up to the wheel spindle. If that allows you to insert the last clip, you got lucky- this time.

The outer flange is easily bent as mentioned. Press the opposite side cup in until the lock clip looks like this.

Notice how the center is not touching the cap. This is as far as you can go with the cap. Sometimes necessary to get the second cap in place. Do not grind anything. Hopefully this will get that last c**t hair. mike...

You can sand the flat side of the clip down on sand paper if it's that close. If you have a press it's very easy to straighten the yoke - doesn't really take much pressure to respring it. Press down on the center from the wheel side of the yoke and put a little grease on the ears where they contact the press stand - It'll flare right out.

Also, after you get it in you should be able to move the joint back and forth with little effort. Tight is not good. Good luck with it. mike...

Thanks for the help!

Its in. What can be bent one way can be bent the other. I took it apart inserted two 1 inch pipes and spread it back out. A little tapping with a blunt chisel and the clip went in. Its is free and smooth albeit snug. Easily moved by hand but still snug. Is that ok?

Should be. I will back seat them sometimes to loosen them up. See what the real experts say. mike...
