Default C6 Seats

I did a search and didn't find much on C6 seats in C3's. I'm thinking about going this route. I've got C5 seats in my C2 convertible and like them. I don't want the same seats in my 72 Coupe. I also don't want the Fiero seats.

I'm guessing that once I'm done with the engine & trany swap, the existing seats won't keep me behind the wheel very well.

I'm 5'11" tall. Car has T&T steering.

Pics and comments needed. I'm thinking about just manual seats.

Hi CWerner,
I´m planing the same in my 71 C3, bought seats from C 6 2006 with 6 way power, lumbar air, heat and airbag. At the moment I´m looking for electric diagram for this seats, I´m not trying to get the airbag to work but the other 3 items could be great.
regards
Erik

I have c6 seats in my 72. It would be about impossible to use the rails that came with the seat unless you're super short or you modify the floor/rails somehow. I modified the seat to use the c3 rails, wasn't too bad. I'm 6'4" and I fit with those seats btw, but I also changed out the steering wheel to be 14" as well. Seats are MUCH MUCH better than the original.

Also, for more information about how I did them. Basically it was:

Take old seats out. Take the rails off of the old seats. Measure all the distances, come up with a pattern sheet for holes (I used a pizza box I think, lol)
Drill holes into the c6 seat for the rails to go using the pattern from the c3 seat
Use a tap and die to put the correct threads in the holes for the bolts
Attach rails to c6 seats
Put c6 seats into c3 corvette
Suddenly you're way more comfortable

I may have missed a step or two in there, but that was basically what I did.

Go in the C7 section and place an ad WTB: C7 seats. Just to see what you might get. You would probably pay 5-600 for C6 seats. Some C7 guys are going to be pulling the stock seats to put in the sport seats so the C7 ones will be available. And the C7 seats are supposed to be light years ahead of the past ones. C5-6 seats were always criticized as not being all that good in the scheme of things with modern seats, better than a C3 seat for sure but against other car seats not so much.

Throw a line in the water for the C7.

No problem. You should note a couple things though:

a) you may be taller from the waist up than I am. I have about 1/2 inch between my head and the ceiling, so it's close.

b) if a) is a problem, you may have to get the glass roof panels, they give you more headroom.

c) later cars than my 72 may have different floor orientations...I think that 78 and later have different seat rails possibly.

Just things to think about. My jeans inseam is 36" btw, so I have fairly long legs.

I just bought some used c6 seat covers with the cross flags embroidered in the head rest. They are two tone: ebony edges with dark red center. I'll post pics when they arrive. Now I need to find some seats. I'll wait a few months unless I run across some cheap.

I'd love the c7 seats.

I went ahead and dropped a WTB ad in the C7 section for seats. I'll let you know if there are any bites. They don't even have a C7 parts for sale section yet.
