Just installed my overhauled Qjet and I'd like to know what should be the cold idle/fast idle settings????? All other specs seem to be spot on when the engine is warmed up........
Not sure if it carries up to the 78 model but probably does, my cold idle when she first runs is 1500rpm. I let that run until I hear the choke open up, blip the throttle and she drops down to 900 (for a manual trans).

Spec is 1250. I set all the carbs I build at about 1150, since many people feel the 1250 is a bit high when they drop it into gear. Bottom line is to set it at whatever rpm your engine needs to produce a stable, reliable idle when cold - a bigger cammed engine tends to want a little more cold idle rpm, whereas a very mild engine can take a slightly lower cold idle and still have good reliability.
Thanks Lars. I did forget to mention I have a little larger cam than original. I tried starting it around 1300 but it just wouldn't keep running. I do not let it run at 1500 for very long, unless it is really cold out. Now there was one time my stop solenoid got stuck and wouldn't kick off of high idle, that was fun to realize at the first stop sign.
