Default Windshield washer pump motor help

This is regrading my '03 Ford Sport Trac but I assume most washer pumps are built much the same. Anyway, appreciate any help. The pump was working sporadically before total "failure". So, I bench tested the pump and it works! I tested for voltage at the plug end that goes into the pump and get 12V on my multi meter when the washer button is pressed. I connect the plug to the pump and press the washer button and nada! Could the two female terminals expanded maybe and not making good contact? The contacts and plug look fine.

if you pull on the wires that feed into the plug and check for voltage no change? It has to be related to the plug.

I'll go back and try that when my 'helper' is available. I was doing some reading in the Sport Trac forum. Someone suggested a bad ground. I'm with you on a loose wire somewhere in the vicinity of the plug. I did notice that the voltage was not instantaneous when the switch was depressed but the voltage appeared to rise to 11.5-12V over a second or two. So maybe a bad ground?

Thanks for replying, MelWff. Well, tugged as far as I would dare several times. Voltage didn't budge. Plugged pump back in and nada. Bench tested pump, again and voila! Plugged back in and.....voila! Damn those gremlins!!!
