Modified LS5 Dyno results
Had a nice write up on my combo with some history. Apparently the post didn't stick, so I will list results with fewer words:
1971 original LS5, .30 over with 9.6 CR, mild hydraulic roller, professionally ported L36 intake, original heads with 2.19/1.88 valves and pro head port work, Stage 2 Q-Jet by Sean Murphy, 2" Hedman headers, MSD 6AL. Results beat my expectations: 362 rwhp at only 5,000rpm and 461 wrtq at 3,500 rpm.
I have had several combos in the car over the years (433 with L88 style cam, 433 with Torker II and mild Hyd, 496 with solid FT and LS6 intake and Alum GM heads). This combo I have now is my fav. Very street able, and shows you can make good power with low profile intake and a stock BB hood.

Btw, engine assembly, head work, and dyno tune was done at Lamar Walden Auto in Doraville, GA. Lamar is near legend status in this area and is best known for his 409 work. Dyno is a Dynojet with CF SAE Smoothing.

Jim,
You helped me years ago when I was building the 496 that I had in this car for a while. Decided to build the original motor, and need another project car for that 496! Nice to see you still peruse these boards. I have not been so diligent!
Original 4 speed car, but has a TKO 5 speed now.

That's just a helluva street engine you have there! Great combo of parts- the bigger valves & porting really let the other parts work together. Congrats on a sweet result. You really should get out to the drag strip and let it loose!

No doubt Lamar does great work. The word Legend fits him well. You've got a little Lamar Magic in that combo it sounds like.
I can't help myself..benchracing is almost as much fun as doing it!

Nice job Doug. Long time no see from over here in Athens. Let me know of any shows around you will be going to and lets get together. Do you still have the shop in Winder I think you said?
