77 bogging down and dying when in reverse
its fine forward but noticed it dies when in reverse, when turning sharply to back into driveway, also i have to hold gass down slightly for about a min after a cold start , or it will die...
i'm new to older cars, was wonder if i could make an adjustment to carb to rev it up slightly, to resolve these issues?
currently once is start it up and nurse it for a few mins, when it idles on its own it sits at about 900 rpm,
im guessing it was sitting for a while before i got it , so i got a full tank of gass and put a bottle of Heat in with the gass to get rid of any water accumulated in the tank. the battery is at about 13.5v, , new spark plugs and plug wires, air filter is new. 86k miles.
Check the timing on the vehicle as well.
Is the engine stock or does it have a big cam in it?
really dont know how to check timing or what type of choke i have, will investigate and post pics when i can.
also.....if you don't like a choke---just remove the choke plate and leave everything else as is.....
that way, the engine will still idle at 1200 rpm until it warms up/you won't have to keep "nursing" the accelerator pedal to keep it running.
