well since something happened to my th350 and rather than spend on money on it i will be installing the t-56i got in the back. im on a low budget but i think i got the most expensive part(tranny).any ideas on where to get everything needed? i am on a budget so i dont know about getting a kit from one of the top tranny guys out there.i will be going with a hydraulic clutch i think it will be easier for me with less linkages and stuff i have to buy.any help will be appreciated.
Just a start, you're going to need a flywheel, the whole clutch, the pedal box under the dash, the linkage or hydraulic parts if you want a hydraulic clutch, and the time to rip the dash apart to install the under dash stuff.
Your call, but a full tilt rebuild kit for a TH350 is less than $200. Add another $100 or so if the torque convertor is full of metal or broke, plus any hard parts. A TH350 is not tough to rebuild. Lots of info on How-to out there.
the thing is thats this is my first real car and do not have much experience. i asked around today for rebuild is 350 dollars.all together it will be around 700 more or less here. i might as well bite the bullet and do conversion.idk im on the fence and thats why im looking to ee where i cn buy parts
I understand- Other than some of the vendors, finding the pedal box for under the dash might be the tough part. They are out there. Sorry I can't help with where.
There are a couple of pedal sets available in the Parts for Sale section, but they are not cheap. I don't say that to insult any fellow forum members, but it is a fact as they are hard to find in good condition. You will easily spend what you are finding as a rebuild cost for your TH350 when getting all the parts together for a manual trans swap. Clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, all the hydraulic clutch parts, flywheel, bell housing, etc plus the console parts you need to change out the interior parts. Either way, it is not cheap. Rebuilding the automatic you have is probably cheaper unless you get really lucky in finding parts.
hats what im thinking.. getting the parts will probably be 1700 hundred.as i do take long trips tho and eventually will pay for itself. my brother is lending me the 1000. i have 700. im just looking for links to where i can buy the things i made up my mind after i talked to my brother.
ill be makimg 2-3 700 mile trips and around 5-8 220 mile long trips a year and those are only the planned trips. it might offset ythe cost after a year.
Also, a T56 is not just a T56. Is it from a LS or LT engine? Makes a big difference on bellhousing, flywheel, shifter, etc. You also have unique T56's from the GTO, Cadillac, 'vette, etc.
Last, what rear end do you have and what gear ratio tranny is it? A lot of them have the .050 6th gear, that combined with a 3.08 rear end is worthless.
Not trying to be negative or persuade you, just be thorough in your research and planning before spending money on parts. The T56 is more involved then going to say a muncie or TKO.
a guy at a local spped shop has someone that will cut rebalance and installl new u joints for 100 bucks..regarding crossmember im going with the bowtie overdrive one 200.found some pedals he wants 250 shipped.so thats 550 there. then the conversion flywheel is like 450 thats 1000 big ones. still neeed clutch thats 300 more or less. master cylinder ill probably get the 85 1 ton truck one thats 40...now question is what kind of clutch and slave cylinder do i use.. the tranny i have has a fork. im fairly new to wrenching so please excuse if i havents gotten everything i need on my list. also new gauges bev=cause it will cost the same to get two new gauges than to get a electric to mechanical box or whatever it is

I can't vouch for the accuracy of the list in the link, but it says that a T56 out of a '95 Camaro has a 2.66 first gear, and a torque capacity of 450 ft. lbs.
With a 3.55 diff gear, that gives you 9.44 final drive in first gear, which should work well.
if i only new what yu just said scotty. it al sounded like giberish to me because i ont know what it means... but as long as it works ill be happy and thanks!
Just use the Camaro bottom slave make a line with a bleeder screw and youre good.
Use the factory fork. It bolts right up to your sbc 1 top bolt isnt used. Had mine in since 2000 best upgrade ever. Truck master probably a good idea the Fbody one your vette may not have room for. Think there will be roughly an inch or so of travel on the pushrod. PM me if you have questions in getting it set up btdt.
im getting pedals and i have 85 1 ton clutch master.im guessing:
1) ill need to get line made up with bleeder screw(idk where)
2)conversion flywheel(i have 2 piece rear main)
3)clutch and pressure plate
4)bowtie overdrive crossmmber
5)new tach and spedo while I'm at it.(really only need sped)
6) get my driveshaft cut and rebalansed with new u joints(which are good)
7)fix the shifter location not a welder or fabricator where will i do this?
8) wire everything up.
