Default Help on finding a SHORT

1969 Convertible sbc.
Have a bad short. Placed a light between the neg terminal and the neg cable. Disconnected each fuse individually and the alternator but still the light is on bright.
What would be the next logical step in finding the short please.
No fuses have blown.
No A/C. New Battery. New Alternator.
Any/All suggestions appreciated.
FYI have no access to car for next 2 weeks but would like to plan
ahead with this problem.
Thanks Mike

Default Bin working on the starter or wiper motor?

The black ground wire for the wiper motor and fan should be on a starter or bell housing bolt, could that wire be on the battery terminal on the solenoid by mistake?

Hey Mike, What is exhibiting the problem that make you think you have a short? Is it a slow drain on the battery?

First place to look. Make sure the key is off too. After that, think about the things that are powered all the time- like the headlight switch, horn, stop lights, and interior lights.

You can use the link I posted above. I usually hook a multimeter up to the battery using the amp meter highest setting. Then remove and replace each fuse looking for a biggest change. That gets me to the correct circuit.

This is the process I use.

In a corvette the doors need to be shut. So you need to have the door switch closed. The manual is not necessary. The fuses are all located in one spot.

Thanks everyone, once I get the car back from the paint shop in a couple of weeks I'll follow all above and advise.
Thanks again Mike

Default Another wild guess!

You might want to check the anti theft circuit, if the horn does not work but the relay is "ON", that will drain the battery.
