Re: A question for Big Block owners (Corey 68)
I had problems with mine also, I went through three different sets of valve covers before I found some that fit. I went with the Chevy Bow Tie racing valve covers but at $300.00 per set they hurt. I have some of the chrome Moroso valve covers that will also fit if you are interested. You selection will be limited.
I took an old set of MTs that cleared the roller rockers and cut the corner out and welded a plate across it. It cleared the rollers and the power brake unit on my 66 BB car.
I got a set of tall Billet Specialties to fit, but it took a little work and bending and grinding, especially by the brake booster, if you have A/C then you'll have to clearance that side some as well. It took some work but they gave me plenty of clearance for my roller rockers. I could measure the height of mine if you want, but a little shorter then mine would be a lot less work, trust me :yesnod:
Look in the boneyard for 70's chevy trucks, the diesel ones had them and some later model gas powerde also. If you grab one, get the lines too, that'll save you a lot of grief getting the correct fittings etc.
Re: A question for Big Block owners (mountainmotor)
I bought a pair of chrome covers on eBAY for about $50 bucks. I then persuaded the cover out of the way using a 2.5 inch socket and mallet. It didn't bother the chrome at all, and when it's put together, it's very hard to see. The key, is screwing the cover down when massaging it. I know this isn't the best way, but by the time the rebuild was done, I had hemoraged enough cash, and new covers will have to wait.

Mine has also welded corners, both a..Very tall Erson covers..One cover almost hits the Powerbrake servo and the other one almost hits the heatercore assembly(AC)...
Corey:
I'm currently running Mickey Thompson valve covers that will work with full roller rocker arms. I did not have to do anything to them but bolt them on. It's somewhat close to the brake booster but I can still install/remove them very easily.
