Default Delayed Exhaust Noise

'78 model with headers , 2.5 duals and about 300hp.
Whenever I gun it I get a roar from the engine and then about 1 second later I get another roar out of the mufflers. it doesn't sound right.

I wonder if you're just hearing the intake noise from the carb...

I'd agree that it is probably the secondaries opening up on the carb instead of exhaust noise. It would be hard to tell where all the racket is coming from when you really romp it.

Now technically, if he were traveling at the speed of sound how would he hear the exhaust out the tail pipe at all.

We all know that qjet carbs are junk so the car would never quite reach Mach 1, just close..

Yep, and every public forum also has its stuck-up prig who can't take a joke. Lighten up, Francis.
