Ive started doing some research and have read mixed reviews about the Steeroids rack and pinion and the Flaming river set up. Anyone have any experience with either? Additionally Ive read a bit about the jeep steering box upgrade. Is anyone running that, and what is the benefit of the jeep box over the rack and pinion set up?
I'll be able to chime in on the Steeroids unit in about a week. I have one on the way. I do think a rack and pinion is the way to go. I'd sure like to hear some opinions from people that have done the conversion. The few I've found say it was the best upgrade/improvement they had done. I'm also planning on replacing the monoleaf suspension in favor of coil overs.
The majority of the response on the Steeroids set up that Ive read is positive, but I did see a few who felt it was imprecise and numb feeling. Obviously there is always going to be a few who arent satisfied with anything, I just wanted to see if I could get a consensus on here.
Borgeson box...Installed in 09.Great unit bolts right in ,looks factory.Steers quicker good feel..Eliminates leaks, control valve and hoses under the car..

I think the problem my stem from not going all the way.
I did all new ball joints, bushing, springs and shocks at the same time.
The Steeroids then replaces the tie rods and all the other wear items. Then a full alignment.
Mine is perfect just like a new car.
Easy install but I did have to grind the motor mount section.
that makes sense....this would be done in conjunction with the Van Steel coil overs and control arms, front and back, so as in your case, everything would be new
I have to agree with ddawson, I replaced everything to include the pump. The hardest thing is to align the shaft, take you time doing the project and I don't think you will be disappointed.
I never had to grind the engine mount on mine as the clearance was there.
Steeroids recommends going with a different valve in the pump, this is one thing I never did so I am unsure how it will effect the steering.
The best thing of all is no more power steering leaks.

Borgeson and very happy. I combined mine w/ hydroboost brakes and it drives better than my Acura. Love it. Worth every penny. I come from a rockcrawling background and we like to modify and make our own stuff when we can. The Jeep box works fine, but save yourself some time and effort and pony up for the Borgeson. Just my opinion.
