Does anyone know wether a 75 distributor shielding will fit a HEI-distributor in a 1972 Small-Block? Need to have one to get the stupid screaming sound out of my stereo....
75 was the first year for the HEI. I would think it would work in your 72. If you already have the HEI in the 72 and there is no problem with the HEI hitting the air cleaner.
I am a little confussed about the sheilding. I hear if you have the updated wires you don;t need it but I have a MSD Dist (new) MSD 6A box (newer) radio sheilded wires (new) and a MSD Noise suppressor along with various noise suppressors for the stereo and I still get interference. I am going to rewire my stereo and upgrade to better power and speaker wires and hope this get rid of the whine. It is very annoying.
BTW Put another bracket (]) at the end your first URL in your sig then it will become a link, I think.

The Alt. can also cause a screaming noise in your stereo.
Remove the alt. belt and start the engine, if the noise is gone, you found your problem. If still there, then ignition shielding may help.
Maybe try some aluminum foil around the distributor first to see if it really is the distributor.
